After receiving my first bottle of Juliette Has a Gun perfume (or not a perfume), I was immediately intrigued by how this fragrance was not considered under the normal guidelines of a perfume. From my understanding, the chemical makeup of the fragrance itself is unlike most in the perfume category. "This time, I have created a perfume out of this one ingredient. A perfume that won’t be one, in the conventional sense of the word."—Romano Ricci, Brand Founder and Perfumer. That one ingredient being Cetalox (Synthetic Ambergris).
The entire name of the brand is so feminine and powerful. The idea of a “Gun” suggests a sense of weaponry and seduction. Romano Ricci launched the brand in 2006 and describes the fragrance, ‘The innocent Juliet of Shakespeare is transposed to the 21st Century with a gun… A metaphor for the perfume, weapon of seduction, or simple accessory of the bluff. “Gun” essentially symbolizes the liberation of women towards men… And sometimes with an aftertaste of revenge.’
The fragrance itself has been described as “minimalist, elegant and pure” and to be honest there is no better way to put it. The scent is incredibly personal and wears differently on each person. The simplicity of the ingredients ensures that each person has their own scent while using the same product. Although pricey, I consider this to be one of the best fragrances I have ever tried and will go ahead and say it is worth the money. I will be wearing this every day as it is my new personal scent!
